Australian Government Supports High Quality Research to improve Nutrition in Pakistan

The Australian Government is pleased to support training in improved research techniques to better inform responses to malnutrition in Pakistan, Acting Australian High Commissioner Jurek Juszczyk announced today. Australia has committed AUD 300,000 to build the capacity of the Scaling Up Nutrition Academia and Research (SUNAR) Pakistan Network through a series of workshops on research methods and techniques.  The workshops will aim to assist SUNAR members and young academics to conduct high quality research and to secure grants for innovative research projects in the field of nutrition. WFP Launches Stunting Prevention Initiative In Kurram Agency, FATA

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), in partnership with the Directorate of Health Services in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan, has formally launched a programme to prevent stunting in the Kurram Agency of FATA. Stunting occurs when a child’s growth and development is impaired from poor nutrition. The effort aims to prevent chronic malnutrition in children under five years of age as well as in pregnant women and nursing mothers. Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Alliance (SUN CSA)

The Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Alliance (SUN-CSA) Pakistan was launched in Islamabad on Dec 23, 2014,  during a two day national conference on the State of Nutrition in Pakistan. The milestone event was boosted with the newly established SUN-CSA adopting a Civil Society Declaration on Nutrition and Food Security.
