CEIP recently launched their TRANSition project with partners; The Gender Guardian and Go Green Welfare Society. The launching event took place on 17th August at Hotel Pearl Continental, Lahore. The program started with members of the transgender community singing the national anthem, followed by a theatrical performance that highlighted the issues faced by this community. Lahore, May 24, 2017: A five-year project aimed at preventing child marriages by enabling young people to make informed decisions regarding marriage and health rights was launched at a local hotel on Friday. The event was organized by Bedari in collaboration with Oxfam. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) elected its new office-bearers for a three-year term (2017-2019) here on Sunday. Dr Mehdi Hasan was elected chairperson and Uzma Noorani co-chairperson. The provincial vice-chairpersons were: Habib Tahir (Balochistan), Kamran Arif (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Salima Hashmi (Punjab) and Asad Iqbal Butt (Sindh). Naazish Ata-ullah was elected as treasurer. The HRCP general body nominated Asma Jahangir as spokesperson for the commission. This was announced by Mr. Najam ud Din, Director, HRCP in Lahore on 2nd April 2017 through a press release.
