Source: FAFEN ISLAMABAD, April 18, 2017: At least three polling stations in Dhurnal, Dhaular and Mogla villages in Chakwal reported zero turnout of women as the people went to polls in the by-election for a Punjab Assembly constituency (PP-23) on Tuesday, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN). Copies of the Statements of the Count (Form-XVI) for polling stations nos. 182 (Dhaular), 159 (Dhurnal) and 190 (Mogla) confirm that no women had voted. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) elected its new office-bearers for a three-year term (2017-2019) here on Sunday. Dr Mehdi Hasan was elected chairperson and Uzma Noorani co-chairperson. The provincial vice-chairpersons were: Habib Tahir (Balochistan), Kamran Arif (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Salima Hashmi (Punjab) and Asad Iqbal Butt (Sindh). Naazish Ata-ullah was elected as treasurer. The HRCP general body nominated Asma Jahangir as spokesperson for the commission. This was announced by Mr. Najam ud Din, Director, HRCP in Lahore on 2nd April 2017 through a press release.
