Eliminating the Worst Forms of Child Labour

Zishan Ahmad Siddiqi The International Labour Organisation (ILO)’s Convention No 182, aiming at the elimination of the worst forms of child labour, received universal ratification this summer. All 187 member states of the ILO ratified and have thereupon pledged to provide legal protection against the worst forms of child labour. 11 Year Old Child Domestic Worker Beaten by Employer in Hyderabad, Sindh

Source: SPARC Pakistan An 11 year old girl working as domestic help at Defence, Hyderabad was beaten by her employer under the suspicion of stealing a gold ring. The victim was beaten by her employer’s wife and taken to G.O.R. Police Station by the brother of her employer. The SPARC team led by MR Zahid Thebo reached to aid the child domestic worker immediately after learning about the incident.
